Response to Newt Gingrich’s treatment in today’s Human Events:
What is so different about the use of Reconciliation by the Democrats today vs by the Republicans when you were in Congress? As you are something of a Constitutional Authority, is it not true that our Founding Fathers, collectively, feared rule by hysterical masses; such as, I believe, Fox News and it’s Anarchistic Lackey’s such as yourself, Bob Morris, Ann Coulter, Charles Kraughthammer, etc. etc. and then particularly Bill O’Reillly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Meagan Kelly and pretty much the entire Fox crew and their recurring ‘Guests’, virtually all of whom are putting sadistic twists to their ‘Fair and Balance’ treatments most generally to drive ratings for their own ‘Books and Programs’. They, our Founding Fathers, had reference to the French Revolution and its resulting Democracy which immediately lead to total Anarchy, which is where, I fear, This Anarchistic Fox News crowd is driving the United States right now.
Why do you all continue to ignore that our problem is not that we as a nation do not have the income/wealth to fund our government without deficit spending. But rather that our government is now totally controlled by BIG BUSINESS, BIG PHARMA, INSURANCE AND BANKING entities, DOCTORS, HOSPITAL and LAWYERS and other Special Interest Groups through their PAC Moneys who have totally bribed/bought the votes of our Legislators, (and through our Legislators) our Judiciary, and our Government Administrators at all levels. All in an apparently Incurable Criminal Conspiracy to destroy our Nation.
You find it convenient to ignore that our present spiraling deficit was started by Ronald Reagan as he was campaigning for Big Business (in his case his then employer, GE. The LIE was that reducing taxes on the wealth would lead to more job creation, misleading his willfully ignorant audience, the Middle American/Small Business voters, because the majority of Blue Collar and Poverty Level Citizens are to damn busy working to be able to follow the treachery being perpetrated on them – for the most part they do not have or take the time to vote.. In fact there was not then and never was any logical reason that this Reagan trickle down theory would work. In-fact it served only to populate the beaches of the world with the lavish wealth released; and started our Nation, States and Local Entities on a continuing ‘Economic Death Spiral’. I am a Californian by birth and was a resident there when Reagan was elected Governor and took the state into a state of bankruptcy that continues to this date (Proposition 13 being the enabling legislation). He then as President continued this folly reducing taxes to the point of absurdity which has continued thru both Bush administrations, which included your time in Congress..
What I think is so obvious is that when as a nation we do not pay our bills by forfeiting taxes on wealth then no public entity (President or administration, Federal, State, or local) can sustain itself on deficit spending,
‘Fox News and its Lackeys’ have whipped up mass hysteria with their innuendo’s, half truths and outright lies to the point that for the moment public opinion appears to be against health care reform. This is exactly the Anarchy that our Founding Fathers foresaw in a True Democratic process. This, I believe, is particularly aggravated by the near total immorality of this segment of the electorate (The Middle American Voter). They willing expect and demand the benefits of our Society, but refuse to pay the taxes that support this Society. (They have no problem raiding their neighbors orchard.) This is, again, exactly why our Founding Fathers opted for a Government by Representation vs a True Democracy. Of course because we also now have a near Totally Incurably Corrupt Legislative and Judicial Branches of our government, I fear we are near a point of total collapse of our country and that could very likely trigger a necessary Militarization of our entire government.
It is really a sad time when these, I believe, traitorous anarchist that I refer to as ‘Fox News and its Lackeys’ ravage our nation because they object to paying taxes in a fair proportion to their profits from living in this country, while they ignore or at best give insincere lip service to the death, pain and financial and emotional suffering so many in our military services have and continue incur to defend our/their freedoms and our nation. A couple of nights ago Bill O’Reilly’s melt down illustrates to me how callous and shallow this whole crew is. They for the most part have never in their lives put their lives on the line to defend this nation and are pretty much solely focused on their own narcissistic interest: Their rage at paying taxes suggests they would gladly kill/murder anyone who opposes them. They are frightening.
With regard to the popular issue of the day, Health Care Reform, I believe it is a deliberate LIE to say that a FEDERAL SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM is to expensive. Far in excess of 40% of our present Health Care Costs under Private insurance is a total waste; Private Insurance brings absolutely nothing to the table; that money would more than cover the total cost of a Federal Single Payer System that covers every citizen and legal resident. The only significant problem that our Canadian and British neighbor have with their system is the reluctance of their legislators to fund their program, which is similarly the only major problem our own Veteran’s Administration and Medicare programs have. It is historical, even biblical, that man willingly raids his neighbors orchard, but is reluctant to tend to his own.
With a Federal Single Payer System Medicaid should be eliminated and those services and costs would be assimilated, relieving State and Municipal budget problems. Further, all businesses, large and small would be relieved of the burden of health care costs, and would thus be able to compete much more fairly in both the domestic and the International Marketplace.
Like our present Medicare System, the only involvement in the administration could be handled by using Private Insurance Company-Like entities being contracted to manage the program, as with Medicare following Fair Practices as prescribed law. It is a LIE to refer to it as a Government Takeover.
Yes we would all pay taxes to support this system. And, I Believe, we must return to a Graduated/Progressive income tax system similar to what we had prior to Ronald Reagan’s destructive/disastrous adventure. The Health Care Costs would be covered by and expanded FICA tax that would similarly be progressive with no caps. The tax rates would be adjusted up or down to cover costs plus a reserve. (Means testing would be applied to protect those at with low or no incomes. Further those with criminally or morally corrupt contributory negligence would be restricted to only hospice level care.
